After purchasing our house a year and a half ago, the renovations are far from over! The master bedroom had been on that list until now! We painted the entire bedroom and ceiling prior to moving in, but did nothing else to the space. We moved our old furniture into the room and never really felt that our master suite was an area that was finished or we really enjoyed.
The Studio by JH is one of my favorite places to shop in Omaha for art and home decor. During one of my shopping trips there, I fell in love with a painting in the shop. I didn’t have the right spot for it at the time, and began chatting with one of the decorators at the store. The Studio is the store front for the interior design firm, JH Interior Design – so the ladies in the shop know their stuff!! They began pulling some beautiful items in their shop that coordinated with the painting, and my mind when straight to my master bedroom!! Over the next couple months, I worked closely with them to create the master bedroom of our dreams! More below…
I couldn’t be happier with how it has turned out!! It really feels like a space we want to spend time in. I am amazed by how some of the small changes have made such an impact.
When starting the design process with JH Interior Design, I had a couple requests/thoughts. I wanted large nightstands and I also was unsure if I wanted any other dressers in the room. Replacing the tan carpet was not an option, so I wanted a rug to put over the carpet that would not bunch over the carpet. I also preferred not to repaint the room because we had just painted and I liked the color. Finally, I love decorating and I wanted to be actively involved in the design of the room. As we started, I became nervous with designing around the painting – I wasn’t sure I wanted blush as one of the accent colors.
At our initial design meeting, they presented both a blush & grey bedroom plan as well as a plan with navy as one of the accent color – you may remember this on my IG stories! The amazing thing about both of these plans, was the main items of the room (bed, bench, mirror, dressers) remained the same and only the accent items changes. I was torn as most of my house has a lot of blues and navy. We decided to change it up and move forward with the blush and the painting I fell in love with at The Studio!
I was blown away at the final reveal. All of my requests had been met and more! The large nightstands are so beautiful and help fill the long wall – and have a lot of storage. Removing the large dresser in the room has created so much more space. The rug is AMAZING and the softest rug I have ever felt. Not only does it add a layer to the room, it also helps cover up the carpet 🙂 We did not paint the room – and I cannot believe how perfectly the wallpaper matches!! We also painted the tile front the same color to help it blend into the wall.
Walking through The Studio by JH, I was able to find so many accent items to help finish the room. Again, I could not be happier with how the room turned out. It feels elegant and intentional. I think that is one of the things I am happiest with – I would have been able to decorate the room, but would not have been able to take it to this level and I am so glad I had the ladies at JH Interior Design take the lead! If you want to freshen up a room or want a whole makeover, head to The Studio by JH to find some inspiration!!
