What a fun and busy weekend! We fit a lot into this fun, holiday weekend. It was our first time having an actual Spring Break with our kids…Elle is off for 6 days over Easter weekend. So, we decided to take a little vacation over her break – something I hope we can make an annual tradition!
We decided to take the kids to Great Wolf Lodge – a hotel + indoor water park. They have several locations and we went to the one in Kansas City since it is a close drive and we were able to visit my sister while there.
The kids LOVED the water park! Even Harper had a blast splashing around! I was glad that there were plenty of things to do for young kids. Aaron and I had a lot of fun on the bigger slides too!
Our room was themed…we went with the “Wolf Den” room which included a little den with bunkbeds and a TV for the kids…they liked this almost as much as the waterpark itself!!
No trip to KC would be complete without a meal at Fritz’s – the trains deliver your food!!
It was so fun to go on a little vacation just the 5 of us. Creating these memories are so important to us.
The following day, we went to my sister and her family’s house. The kids have so much fun with their little cousin. We went to the KC Aquarium and then tried to find a place for happy hour with 4 kids…and ended up back at their house 😉
Finished the night perfectly!
With the fun and busy first part of our weekend, I think the kids kind of forgot it was Easter. I loved seeing their excited faces when they discovered their Easter baskets this morning.
My dress was my favorite Easter dress to date! I plan to wear this dress to some showers and weddings this spring and summer. It ran a little small – I would recommend ordering 1 size up 🙂
Church was extra special today – I love Easter and celebrating Christ’s resurrection. Dying and heaven are something we try to talk to the kids about on a regular basis. The Easter story gives us another opportunity to teach them about this and today’s mass made me tear up a couple times as I see their faith grow.
Following church, we met Aaron’s family and my parents and other sister for brunch. The food was delicious and the dessert room was a little out of control with an ice cream bar and candy station…. The sugar meltdowns luckily held off until we got home and it was nap time and we were rewarded with long naps all around 😉
As the weekend comes to an end, my heart is full. We needed this great weekend to ready ourselves for the week to come. I hope you all had wonderful weekends full of family and love!
